Region 8 Rallies Behind Redbirds!

October 26, 2004 – Posted at 4:30 p.m. CDT

JONESBORO -- Game three of the World Series is just hours away and fans all over Region 8 are pulling for the Cardinals….which means they need something to wear.

Linda Robinson, Owner of the Arkansas Sports Fan Shop said, “Sales have erupted! Cardinal’s merchandise has been flying off the shelves.”

Cards fans are so excited about their World Series appearance, they've been buying out the St. Louis Red, White and Blue.

“There's just been such a demand for it that manufactures have had trouble keeping it in stock,” said Linda Robinson.

Fans traveling to St. Louis for game three will have to bundle up. One of the biggest sellers at the Arkansas Sports Fans Shop has been the sweatshirts and the stadium blankets.

“Sales are up at least 200% and of course we are so happy because they are a hometown team,” said Linda Robinson.

Plenty of folks in Region 8 are willing to pay a pretty penny to see their Redbirds in action.

Robinson said, “I heard tickets were going for $500 hundred and up.”

“I don't know if I would sell my wife and three kids, but it would be nice if I could get out to the game,” said Cardinal Fan Ryker Robinson.

But it's the memories that will last a lifetime.

“It's the world series,” said Linda Robinson, “It's one of those once in a lifetime things that everybody would love to have the opportunity to go do and say, hey, I’ve been there. I’ve been to the World Series.”

“When I was a little boy, my dad took me up there a couple of times, and it was special, real special,” said Ryker Robinson, as he checked out a Cardinal shirt display.

To score tickets to the World Series, be prepared to shell out some big bucks. You can still get seats on e-bay. However, four tickets to game seven at Fenway park will cost you about $16,000 dollars….Not exactly the cheap seats.
