Jonesboro man sentenced to prison for rape

JONESBORO, AR  (KAIT) – A Jonesboro man was sentenced to nearly 32 years in the Arkansas Department of Correction after he plead guilty to raping a 10-year old girl.

According to Second Judicial District Prosecutor Scott Ellington, Tedrick Turner, 30 plead guilty in Craighead County District Court. Turner's prison sentence will be followed by a five year suspended sentence. Turner will be required to register as a sex offender.

"Mr. Turner will now pay the consequences of violating the innocence of this child behind bars where he belongs," Ellington said in a news release.

Turner was arrested in May of 2013 after the victim told police that Turner had sex with her. Turner was also accused of taking nude pictures of the victim.

Ellington gave credit to Investigators Leslie Faulkner of the Arkansas State Police Crimes Against Children Division and Detective Ron Richardson with the Craighead County Sheriff's Office.
