Former court clerk charged with stealing from employer

ROGERSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

A former Municipal Court Clerk in Rogersville was  arrested and charged with stealing from her employer. Angie Roberson was charged with multiple counts of theft.

According to Rogersville City Attorney Jim Stanphill, the court underwent a recent annual audit, which revealed some irregularities. The Alabama Bureau of Investigation was contacted per policy. The officials helped conduct a forensic audit, and the case was turned over to the Lauderdale County District Attorney's office.

Stanphill confirmed Angie Roberson was charged with multiple counts of theft. Specifics on how much was stolen from the court's funds was not disclosed, as the investigation was ongoing. Stanphill did confirm it was in the tens-of-thousands of dollars.

Roberson was no longer in Rogersville Municipal Court's employ as of 2013.
