Man charged with burglary at elementary school

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Huntsville police arrested a man in connection with a burglaryat an elementary school Friday night.

Officers responded to Terry Heights Elementary School onBarbara Drive after school security notified them of a burglary in progressaround 9:50 p.m.

Police said they set up a perimeter around the school.Authorities said Preston Vaughn, 50, came out of the school and tried to flee,but officers apprehended him.

Upon further investigation, officers said Vaughn hadapparently been attempting to steal copper piping from the school building.

Vaughn was arrested and charged with burglary.
