Police: 1 injured in West Ashley shooting near Citadel Mall

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

Charleston police say one person was injured following a shooting in a neighborhood near Citadel Mall Saturday afternoon.

Charleston County Consolidated Dispatch confirms the shooting took place Saturday around 12:40 p.m. on Hazelwood Drive off Orleans Road. 

Witnesses at the scene say they heard multiple gunshots in the area.

Charles Francis with the Charleston Police Department says the victim was shot in the shoulder, and transported to MUSC with a non-life threatening injury.

Detectives are on the scene gathering information about a possible suspect.
