GRANT, AL (WAFF) -

A mobile home fire in Marshall County took the lives of an elderly couple Friday night. It happened just before 9 p.m. on Ross Subdivision Road in Grant.

Family members identified the victims as 73-year old Lillian Windsor, and 77-year-old M.A. Windsor. According to officials, the couple likely died from smoke inhalation, however an autopsy will be performed later this week.

Authorities said it's possible the fire started in a wood-burning stove or heater of some kind. Firefighters said it was likely accidental and that no foul play is suspected.

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the fire. The couple's deaths are the 36th and 37th fire-related fatalities in Alabama this year. The state fire marshal said that number is unusually high.
