Deputies: Man arrested for breaking into Jefferson High Admin Bldg

MONROE COUNTY, MI (Toledo News Now) -

One person is in custody after deputies say he burglarized the Jefferson High School Administration building early Saturday morning.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, it happened around midnight. Deputies were dispatched to Kenny's Market on N. Dixie Hwy.

A caller reported a male subject with an axe standing in front of the building.

When deputies arrived, they were unable to locate the man.

Deputies say while they were on the scene, an alarm was activated at the Jefferson High School Administration building, which is less than a mile down the road.

Deputies arrived on the scene to find a broken window in the building.

While checking the area, a deputy located a suspicious subject on N. Dixie Hwy., near Woodland Beach.

Deputies tracked boot prints in the snow to a male suspect whose boot prints matched the steps. Deputies recovered an axe and other items in the area.

The suspect, who is currently on Parole for breaking and entering, was arrested and transported to the Monroe County Jail.

It is believed that the suspect may have committed other crimes during the night.

The incident is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the Monroe County Sheriff's Office at 734-240-7700.
