Former State Senator passes away at 73

HARTSELLE, AL (WAFF) -

Former State Senator Tommy Ed Roberts of Hartselle passed away Saturday at his residence. He was at the age of 73. He served two terms in the State House of Representatives and three terms in the State Senate.

Roberts was born October 19, 1940 in Morgan County. Roberts previously served as the president and CEO of the Decatur-Morgan County Economic Development Association and the Decatur-Morgan Port Authority. He served over 10 years in the Army Reserve and the Alabama National Guard.

The funeral service will be held Monday, March 3, at 3 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Hartselle. Burial will be at the Hartselle City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. at the church.
