Woman drinks and drives with 7 kids in tow, arrested Friday

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT)-  A Jonesboro woman is accused of drinking while driving with several children in her backseat.

Renitha Broadway was arrested at the intersection of Daybreak and Granger after she told police she had been drinking several beers Friday night. An open can of beer was also in the driver's cup-holder with a straw.

A Jonesboro police officer asked Broadway if there was anyone else in the vehicle. She told police there weren't. The officer looked in the backseat and saw seven children without seatbelts, laying across each other.

The officer then performed several field sobriety tests. The police report describes Broadway as failing these tests.

The field breathalyzer test revealed a blood-alcohol level of .19 for Broadway.

Broadway was issued a $6,615 surety bond. She is charged with DWI, careless driving, seven counts of no child safety restraint and seven counts of endangering the welfare of a minor.

Broadway is in court Monday, March 3.

It's something that most of us have experienced. You pass a law enforcement officer sitting in their car. They pull out, turn on their blue lights and pull you over. It's almost never good news when that happens right?
