JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – A man was arrested on Saturday after he stole eight dollars from another man.
According to a police report, Jonesboro police officers said they were called out to Fisher Street in reference to an armed robbery.
Zachary Thurmond, 18, told police officers he had an altercation on Friday with Travers Niemi, 38, while staying at the Salvation Army.
Thurmond said that on Saturday afternoon, Travers walked up and sat beside him. The police report said Niemi told Thurmon, "I should kill you for what happened in shelter."
Niemi then pulled out a knife, placed it an inch from his ribs, and demanded money. Thurmon gave Niemi $8 and when another man came up to them, Thurmon excused himself.
Niemi was found a couple of streets away. Officers said he smelled like intoxicants and was arrested.
Niemi was taken to the Craighead County Detention Center. He awaits a probable cause hearing under an aggravated robbery charge, terroristic threatening charge, and a public intoxication charge.
He was scheduled a court date for Monday at 1 p.m.
