FAYETTEVILLE (ArkansasRazorbacks.com) - The 11th-seeded University of Arkansas women's basketball team (19-10, 6-10 SEC) will face No. 14 seed Ole Miss (11-19, 2-14 SEC) in the first round of the 2014 SEC Women's Basketball Tournament in Duluth, Ga., on Wednesday.
Closing the season with a 72-70 home victory and season series sweep of Missouri, the Razorbacks moved to 6-10 in SEC play and claimed the No. 11 seed. Losing the head-to-head tiebreaker against Arkansas, the Tigers--also 6-10 in SEC play--were assigned the No. 12 seed.
Arkansas begins the SEC Tournament against Ole Miss having already claimed a 68-65 victory over the Running Rebels earlier this season in Fayetteville. Freshman Jessica Jackson scored a career-high 31 points and 10 rebounds in what was one of her four double-doubles this season.
Should the Razorbacks win and advance to the second round of the SEC Tournament, they would face No. 6 seed Auburn on Thursday, March 6, at 7:30 p.m. Arkansas also faced the Tigers at home earlier this season, but fell in a contested 56-48 final.
Head coach Tom Collen will hold a press conference and meet with members of the media at 3 p.m. on Monday.
