Lyon's Lexi Reyes named AMC Pitcher of the Week

COLUMBIA, Mo. ( – Lyon College freshman pitcher Lexi Reyes helped the Scots softball team record both of its victories on the week, not allowing a run during her stint in the circle in both contests at the Central Baptist College Tournament in Conway, Ark. For her effort, Reyes has been named the American Midwest Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

The first-year player from Tucson, Ariz. and graduate of Sunnyside High School struck out 13 batters in the pair of wins, while walking just three, as she helped the Scots improve to 4-3 on the season.

In a 1-0 Lyon win over AIB College of Business (Iowa) on Friday, Reyes fanned 11 batters, while walking just two as she scattered three hits throughout the nine-inning game and picked up the victory.

When the Scots were faced against AIB on Saturday, Reyes again took the win. She worked four innings, allowing no runs on two hits with a pair of strikeouts and a walk in a 6-5 Lyon decision.

Reyes also made a short appearance against Williams Baptist College on Saturday.

She currently has a 2-0 mark on the year, with a 0.00 earned run average. She's pitched 13.2 innings, allowing three runs (none earned), while fanning 13 and walking just four.

Reyes currently is tied first in the nation in total earned runs allowed (0), lowest ERA (0.00) and ranks 19th nationally in opponents' batting average (.140), hits allowed per nine innings (3.07) and 22nd in total runs allowed (3).

Lyon (4-3) had its Tuesday afternoon doubleheader at Central Baptist College moved back two days because of inclement weather conditions. The Scots and (RV) Lady Mustangs (12-2) will now play Thursday at 2 p.m. in Conway. Lyon will then open AMC play on Friday, hosting Harris-Stowe State University (0-0) at House Field in a 2 p.m. twinbill.
