JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A Jonesboro man was arrested after police said he was under the influence of meth while waiting in line to pay fines at the police station.
According to Jonesboro police, Lavon Smart, 40, showed signs of being under the influence of meth late Wednesday morning.
When asked by an officer if he had used drugs lately, Smart replied, "last night." Smart said he was paying fines.
A search was conducted on Smart's person and a plastic baggie containing a white powdery substance was found in his right watch pocket, according to the police report.
Smart was transported to the Craighead County Detention Center.
He was charged with possession of meth and public intoxication.
