Deadline approaches for federal healthcare market plans

Posted: Updated:

Bushatsi Capitorine has spent countless hours trying to get Healthcare coverage from the federal government. Like thousands of others, she encountered many problems with the healthcare market place web site.

"My identification was denied like and I went through like 3 times and it never goes through," Capitorine said.

To get through, Capitorine came to these agents at chesterfield town center. They help anyone who's having problems getting signed up and its all at no charge.

Sharon Elliot is one of those agents. She says if you haven't signed up then do so immediately.

"If you wait what is going to happen is you might be able to get through the site you might not be able to get through all the stuff that we have to do so do it now and you will be thankful when you get it over with," Elliot said.

You will also avoid paying a penalty on your 2014 taxes. How much could you pay if you don't sign up? 1 % of your annual household income.

"If a husband and wife are working together and they make 50,000 dollars its 500 dollars each and if they have any children its one half of that per child. so a family of four could be looking at a 1500 dollar fee for not having insurance," Elliott said.

Sharon says that the web site is very sensitive. Any wrong information can result in a complete rejection.

Despite the difficulties she faced, Capitorine says working with an agent is the best way to go. She suggests others do the same.

"I really thank this girl who helped me I hope she can help more as she did for me," Capitorine said.
