LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The judge in former Arkansas treasurer Martha Shoffner's corruption trial says he will rule on whether prosecutors proved the elements of their case if the jury finds her guilty.

Defense attorney Grant Ballard argued Monday - after the prosecution rested its case - that prosecutors didn't show interstate commerce was affected and that payments to Shoffner didn't involve federal funds.

Government prosecutors argued that federal grants to the state were invested in the bonds at issue and that the transactions constituted interstate commerce.

Shoffner faces 14 bribery and extortion counts for taking $36,000 from a bond dealer.
