WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A passing cold front will bring the best chance of showers for the work week on Wednesday. Behind the cold front, a shot of colder temperatures (10 to 20 degrees below average) is likely for Thursday and Thursday night, but temperatures will begin to rebound on Friday.
TUESDAY NIGHT: Expect variable clouds and southwest winds averaging near 10mph. Temperatures will cool to lows mainly in the middle and upper 50s. Rain chances, near 0% initially, will climb to 30% toward daybreak. Sunrise will happen at 7:26am Wednesday.
WEDNESDAY: Expect variable clouds and a scattered coverage of showers (rain chances near 50% for much of the day). A rogue thunderstorm is even possible. Brisk and balmy southwest breezes will average near 20mph but may gust over 30mph occasionally. Temperatures will likely grow to the 70s inland and 60s near the coast.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT AND THURSDAY: A shower or thunderstorm chance may carry into Wednesday evening, but rain chances will settle to near 0% for the bulk of this period. Despite sunshine, expect much chillier temperatures! Lows Thursday morning: mainly upper 30s and lower 40s. Highs Thursday afternoon: 40s to, at best, lower 50s.
EXTENDED FORECAST HIGHLIGHTS: Clear skies and light winds will promote freezing or near- freezing temperatures early Friday morning (plan to account for any sensitive plants you may have placed outside!). Friday looks sunny with temperatures rebounding to the 50s and the weekend will likely feature daily highs in the 60s with low rain chances returning.
