JONESBORO, AR (KAIT)- At a Metropolitan Area Planning Commission meeting Tuesday night, the owners of the property at Stallings and Red Wolf Blvd. asked the MAPC to reconsider rezoning the plot of land.
Casey's General Store was interested in putting a convenience store at that site in January. They needed the land rezoned for commercial use and the issue was brought before the Jonesboro City Council.
Many showed up in opposition and the issue was tabled indefinitely.
Property owner Sharon Stallings spoke before the MAPC and said they never had their heart set on putting a Casey's store there, but she was still interested in rezoning the property.
All but a quarter of an acre of the property is zoned for commercial-residential mix. The MAPC approved rezoning that quarter of an acre, but certain stipulations are in place as to what can go there.
The issue must still go back before the Jonesboro City Council.
