HAYTI, MO (KAIT) – A Hayti man threatens police with a knife because they searched his wife.
According to Hayti Police Chief Paul Sheckell, police were dispatched to a home on East Madison Street in response to a woman wanting to cut herself with a knife.
When police arrived, they searched to woman for a knife. Chief Sheckell said the woman's husband, Val Valentin III, 44, was not pleased that his wife was being searched and grabbed a knife from the back room and threaten an officer with it.
Valentin left the home and drove away in his vehicle.
Police chased Valentin until he pulled over.
He was arrested and could face charges of Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Assault on Law Enforcement and Resisting Arrest.
Valentin is being held at the Premiscot County Jail.
Police went back to the home to check on the woman. According to police, she is doing OK.
