19-year old found guilty of threatening to shoot students

HARRISBURG, AR  (KAIT) – A Harrisburg man was found guilty of misdemeanor terroristic threatening Friday in Poinsett County Circuit Court, according to prosecutors.

Preston Downs, 19, of Harrisburg was found guilty by Judge David Laser and was ordered to 73 days in jail, with 73 days credit. Downs was also ordered to pay $500 in fines, given 9 months suspended imposition of sentence and give a no contact order with the Harrisburg School District.

Poinsett County Deputy Prosecutor Jimmy Gazaway said Downs will be required to show good behavior over the course of the next nine months.

According to police, Downs was arrested in February of 2012 for threatening to bring a gun to Harrisburg High School.
