BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

‘A joyful person' is how friends and family describe a man killed in Fairfield this weekend.

Officers want to know who shot a man in his thirties around midnight Sunday outside an abandoned house on 52nd Street. Investigators do not know what led to the shooting and do not have any witnesses at this point.

The man, who has not been positively identified yet, was found alone. The victim's friends say he was a great guy and they don't understand who would want to see him dead.

"I pray for the family and I'm crying out to tell the family I love them so much and I pray for them and hope the best for them and pray to God they find out who did this to him," said Jennifer Davis, a friend of the victim.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to call police dispatch at 786-4111.
