OH murder suspect on the run since October, arrested in Jonesboro

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – An Ohio man wanted for murder was arrested Monday night in Jonesboro.

Jonesboro Police SWAT and U.S. Marshals said shortly after 6 p.m., they arrested Marquis A. Walker, 29. Police say Walker killed his former girlfriend, Jordan Jones, 23, and shot another man in Toledo, Ohio.

SWAT and U.S. Marshals said after being on the run since October, they had an hour-long standoff at an apartment on 1610 Stone Street in Jonesboro.

According to U.S. Marshal Bob Clark, Walker barricaded himself in the apartment and was threatening to kill himself.

Police tell Region 8 News the murder suspect did fire a shot after the SWAT team threw in a stun grenade.  They said they are calling the shot fired an accidental discharge

Walker was taken to the Craighead County Jail.

Sgt. Doug Formon with the Jonesboro Police Department said they believe Walker had relatives in the area.

However, police continue to investigate how long Walker was living in Jonesboro.

Our sister Raycom station, Toledo News Now, says Walker entered the apartment where Jones was, shot her, and took off.

Toledo News Now reported Walker and Jones had recently broken up.

Jones was pronounced dead at the scene.
