Laurel Police arrest armed robbery suspect

LAUREL, MS (WDAM) -

This is a press release from the Laurel Police Department

On Sunday, March 16, at approximately 11:30 p.m. officers of the LPD patrol division were dispatched to the 700 block of East 18th street in Laurel in reference to an armed robbery.

There the officers made contact with four black females who stated that two black males armed with handguns entered into the residence wearing masks and demanding money. The black males took over $2000 in cash from the occupants of the residence and fled. The suspects were identified by the black females as being Victor Sims, 40, and Randy Dunn, 23, both of Laurel. Sims was taken into custody on March 17th 2014.

Sims was charged with 4 counts of armed robbery as well as ex-con in possession of a firearm. Dunn remains at large. Any information concerning the whereabouts of Dunn should be relayed to Laurel Police Department Criminal Investigations Division or Jones County Crimestoppers. LPD commends the patrol officers who were responsible for taking Sims into custody. Lt. Jerome Jackson is the lead investigator in this case.
