Parents and fraternity brothers remember CofC junior who died in snorkeling accident

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

There was an outpouring of love and support for the parents of a College of Charleston student who died earlier this month after a snorkeling accident in the Florida Keys. Students remembered 21-year-old Grant Eney at a touching vigil Tuesday night.

Music and light filled the Cistern yard as hundreds remembered the College of Charleston junior. Eney died on March 9th, two days after he was found unconscious while snorkeling for lobsters in the Florida Keys. His fellow Sigma Alpha Epsilon brothers remember a young man who always had a story to tell.

"He loved driving through the night and just having the open road and just seeing everything he possibly could," says SAE president John McCarthy. "He truly lived more than any of us ever will."

This is the second tragedy for the Eney family. In 2011, Grant's brother Craig was killed in a motorcycle accident. Craig Eney says while Grant's life was taken much too soon, his adventurous spirit will live on through others.

"Katie and I look to each and every one of you as our sons and daughters and welcome you into our house in Annapolis anytime. We need to carry on, and we look forward to embracing you and your stories of our beloved Grant."
