Palmertree hires new legal team, trial pushed back

WARREN COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

According to the Vicksburg Post, Shelly Ashley-Palmertree has hired a new lawyer and needs more time to learn the fact's of the state's criminal case against her, according to pleadings filed in court in advance of her trial.

Her trial, which was supposed to be next week, has been pushed back to a later date.

The Vicksburg Post says that the three-term clerk has hired Jackson law firm Joe M. Hollaman & Associates. The motion asks specially appointed judge Henry L. Lackey for a timeout while the new lawyers take over the case originally set for trial next week.

Palmertree was indicted by a Grand Jury on January 23rd on three felony counts of embezzlement.
