SULPHUR, LA (KPLC) -

A 33-year-old Sulphur man is in custody after stealing an unlocked, running vehicle from the parking lot of a Vinton convenience store, authorities said.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Kim Myers said Lucas J. Vincent turned himself in Monday night, and the vehicle was returned to the victim.

"At approximately 6 a.m., deputies were dispatched to a Vinton convenience store in reference to a report of a vehicle theft," Myers said in a news release. "The victim said she left her SUV running and unlocked in the store parking lot while she went inside. When the victim exited the store, the SUV was missing."

Myers said Vincent was identified through surveillance video from the store.

Bond was pending.
