RANDOLPH COUNTY, AR (KAIT) – There's been a high demand for land in Randolph County. Last week's Peco announcement has caused a rush to purchase land to build chicken houses for the future poultry plant.
People have also been interested in becoming a part of an expected business boom in Randolph County.
"Now that this has been announced people have been calling for investment property, commercial property and land for chicken houses," said Realtor Jana Caldwell.
Caldwell said the new poultry plant coming to Northeast Arkansas isn't just benefiting future employees.
"We're talking about 1,000 new jobs in the Pocahontas area," said Caldwell. "When that happens we're going to need more of everything."
The interest isn't just inside Arkansas. Sales Associate, Nathan Camp said people from other states are looking to buy land in Randolph County.
"We've had calls from individuals in California, South Carolina, Missouri, Tennessee and Kentucky," said Camp.
