South GA State ends Cavs' win streak

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Darton State entered Thursday's contest against South Georgia State winners of five straight games, and tied for second in the GCAA.

The Hawks would not let the streak get to six Thursday, with a 12-6 win.

SGSC jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the second, and held that score until the fifth.

That's when the Cavs' offense woke up though.

Tay Jerger got Darton on the board with a two-RBI triple in the fifth, then scored another four in the sixth to take a 6-4 lead.

The Hawks then put together a late-inning rally, scoring two in the seventh, two in the eighth, and four in the ninth.

The same two teams meet again Saturday at Cavalier Field for a doubleheader. First pitch of game one is at 1:00 p.m.
