NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Don't be alarmed if you hear loud noises or see strange flames coming from the Sutton Power Plant on Friday - it's all part of a planned burn off by Piedmont Natural Gas.

The company will perform a routine controlled burn off near the Sutton Power Plant sometime Friday. A specific time was not disclosed.

The process should only last one or two hours and will be accompanied by a visible flame, a loud noise similar to a jet engine, and a distinct odor which is associated with natural gas.
