Posted: Updated:

COLUMBIA, SC (WMBF) - Rachel Watson, 31, of Effingham and 37-year-old Susann Allen of Darlington have been found guilty of conspiracy to defraud the United States, according to US Attorney for South Carolina William N. Nettles.

Rachel Watson was also convicted of fifteen counts of aiding and assisting in the preparation of false tax returns and Susann Allen was convicted of two counts of aiding and assisting in the preparation of false tax returns.

Testimony presented during this jury trial, Rachel Watson and Susann Allen were tax preparers in Florence and would prepare false documents for clients making it appear that their clients' income was substantially greater than any income earned.

In several cases, the women claimed fraudulent dependents for their clients. These returns allowed the clients to receive inflated tax refunds.
