PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) –A man wanted in connection with a shooting that sent two people to the hospital is now in police custody.

Handcuffed and shackled, 22-year-old shooting suspect Ceasar "Kid" Johnson was walked into the Paragould Police substation Wednesday afternoon for an interview with detectives.

Johnson's arrest comes after a standoff with multiple agencies Wednesday afternoon in Bay. Paragould Police and the US Marshals tracked Johnson to his father's apartment on Dorton Street. When Bay Police attempted to make contact with Johnson's father, Johnson allegedly slammed the door in their face.

Craighead County SWAT Team members were called in after that for fear that Johnson's father was being held against his will.

A few neighbors were also evacuated as a precautionary measure.

The standoff lasted for roughly two hours before Johnson surrendered himself without incident around 4pm. No shots were ever fired and no injuries were reported.

From there, Johnson was transported to the Craighead County Sheriff's Department where he was transferred back to Paragould Police.

The standoff and arrest all stemmed from a shooting that happened Monday night at an apartment complex in Paragould.

We spoke with neighbors in the area. None wished to go on camera but told us they heard multiple gunshots that night and are all very relieved that Johnson has been arrested as children often play outside in the neighborhood.

Their main concern was that there never should have been a weapon on the premises as the Pecan Grove apartments are government housing and firearms are not allowed.

Craighead County authorities searched Johnson's father's apartment in Bay following his arrest looking for evidence from Monday night's shooting...especially the gun Johnson allegedly used in that incident. So far, it has not been recovered.

Chief Todd Stovall said the two men were taken to local hospitals for treatment.
