Local restaurants provide 15,000 meals through Food Bank donation

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT)-  The Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas got some much needed help thanks to three local restaurants.

Red Lobster, Longhorn Steakhouse and Olive Garden have each donated $1,000 to the food bank. The donation was made possible through the Darden Restaurants Foundation.

The Restaurant Community Grants program allows each Darden Restaurant to choose a charitable donation to give to. Each chose the food bank giving them a grand total of $3,000.

Director of Development, Vicki Pillow, said, "we have 12 counties in Northeast Arkansas that we serve. We serve 5,100 individuals at risk of hunger every week."

Pillow says they can provide five meals for every $1 donated. The $3,000 grant will provide 15,000 meals to families in need.
