JONESBORO, AR (KAIT)- Free diabetes screenings provided important information for those at risk at Northeast Arkansas Baptist Clinic Tuesday.
Medical professionals were set up to test people on the spot and provide them with essential information on the results.
Amber Toombs with NEA Baptist Clinic says getting screened is extremely important. "Diabetes is such an epidemic in our country right now. I mean, there's millions of people with diabetes. 7 million people have it and don't know it. So, that's why screening, number one, is so important," Tombs said. "A diagnosis of pre-diabetes means that you don't have diabetes, but if you don't make lifestyle changes, then diabetes is coming. It's eminent for you. If you can catch those people with pre-diabetes, then sometimes we can prevent the disease."
