SAN FRANCISCO (WIS) After winning against Oregon State Tuesday and earning a spot in the Sweet 16, the Gamecocks made their way to the City by the Bay.

The Gamecocks arrived in San Francisco Wednesday.

Head coach Dawn Staley along with several Gamecocks players had the chance to see some of San Francisco's iconic sites including Alcatraz Island and Fisherman's Wharf.

"It was fun," said forward Aleighsa Welch. "It was one of those days where you kind of take your mind off basketball. You kind of just realize there's more to life than basketball. A lot of us have never been able to see stuff like this. I don't think anybody has been to San Francisco yet. So we were able to have life long memories with it."

Guard Asia Dozier said it was good to take a little break away from the gym.

"It was really nice," Dozier said. "The town's beautiful and we just had a lot of fun together."

On Thursday the Gamecocks scrimmaged and practice drills as they gear up for North Carolina this weekend.

"As the anticipation builds up, I think we just need to concentrate on staying focused," Dozier said.

If the Gamecocks win, they could have a rematch with the Stanford Cardinal.

The Gamecocks were eliminated from the tournament two years ago by Stanford when the Cardinal were the No. 1 seed in the Fresno Region.

Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. (ET) March 30 on ESPN2.
