AR teacher's license placed on probation for 3 years

BATESVILLE, AR  (KAIT) – An Independence County teacher's license was put on probation for three years following an investigation for "failing to maintain a professional relationship with each student, both in and outside the classroom."

According to documents obtained by Region 8 News from the Arkansas Professional Licensure Standards Board, Brett Difani of Batesville "engaged in an ongoing dating/romantic relationship with a 16-year old female student" and "posted pictures of the two of them together on social media and made comments about being together." The board voted unanimously to issue the probation and fine Difani $75.

Difani worked for the Batesville School District as a teacher at Sulphur Rock Magnet Elementary School. It is not known if Difani still works for the district. Difani is listed as a 6th grade teacher and sports director at Sulphur Rock Magnet on the district's website.
