GREENE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) – An out of county prosecutor has filed a felony charge against a Quorum Court member after he struck the Greene County Judge.

Prosecuting Attorney Scott Ellington tells Region 8 News Justice of the Peace Ronnie Wood was charged with felony battery charges after a physical altercation with Judge Jerry Shipman back in January.

Arkansas State Police began an investigation after Shipman said Wood struck him at the Phillips Auction Barn on Greene County Road 721.

They were meeting there to discuss road improvements in the area.

Ellington said he assigned the case to Clay County Deputy Prosecutor Mike Trail to avoid conflicts of interests by the Greene County Deputy Prosecutor's office.

Trail said the charge was changed to a felony because of Shipman's age.
