Patrol releases new details of triple fatal accident on Ohio Turnpike

(Toledo News Now) -

The Ohio State Highway Patrol released new information Friday on the accidents that killed three people on March 12, 2014.

The patrol conducted 50 different crash investigations that day, in which 126 different vehicles were damaged and 49 people were hurt.

The most severe of the accidents happened in the eastbound lanes of the Turnpike between mile markers 101 and 102. There, the patrol says 55 vehicles collided, resulting in 36 injuries and three deaths. Trooper Andrew Clouser was hit and seriously hurt in that crash.

The patrol says the accidents happened during a period of severe snow blowing and drifting, which seriously limited visibility.
