2 dead after Pocahontas house fire

POCAHONTAS, AR (KAIT) - A house fire in Pocahontas killed two people Sunday night around 10:15.

The fire took place at 663 Black River Rd. The cause has not yet been determined, according to Pocahontas Fire Chief Jimmy Shields.

"It was a fairly large fire," said Shields. "It had already engulfed over half of the house and the vehicle outside."

Shields said as of now the cause of the fire doesn't look questionable.

"Nothing stood out that's suspicious but until we get done with our investigation, it will be undetermined," he said. "Hopefully, in the next day or so we should have a cause."

Shields said the fire is still under investigation, and they are working closely with, Randolph County Sheriff's Department and Arkansas State Police.
