Man accused of stealing tractor trailer arrested

IZARD COUNTY, AR (KAIT) – Deputies arrested a man accused of stealing a tractor trailer rig.

According to Izard County Sheriff Tate Lawrence, the tractor trailer rig was stolen between Sunday night and Monday morning.

Deputies then notified authorities in the area about the stolen rig. Lawrence said an Arkansas State Police trooper pulled over a man on Monday near Mountain Home. The driver had the stolen equipment with him.

The trooper arrested the driver, Lewis Elmer Branscum, 28, and he was charged with two felonies for theft of property.

Branscum is in the Izard County Detention Center.

The rig was returned to the rightful owner.
