Diamond Hogs open homestand with Nebraska

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (ArkansasRazorbacks.com) – The Arkansas baseball team gets set for its busiest stretch of the season this week, hosting Nebraska Tuesday at 6:35 p.m. and Wednesday at 1:35 p.m. to kick off five games in five days at Baum Stadium.

Arkansas gymnast Katherine Grable will throw out the first pitch prior to Tuesday's game, as the six-time All-American prepares to lead the Razorbacks into the NCAA Fayetteville Regional this Saturday in Barnhill Arena.

Game Notes

  • The Razorbacks have a 13-3 record at Baum Stadium in 2014, including their current four-game winning streak. Arkansas is 11-2 at home in nonconference games and is outscoring those opponents 95-31.
  • The Razorbacks have scored first in 16 of their 17 wins and are 15-0 when leading after six innings, 15-0 when leading after seven innings and 16-0 when leading after eight innings.
  • The Razorback pitching staff put together a stellar streak over a 54.2-inning span in late March, allowing just two runs and leading Arkansas to a six-game winning streak. The streak included four shutouts in a five-game span and the staff recorded a 0.03 earned run average.
  • The Razorbacks have won at least one game in 20 straight SEC series dating back to the 2012 season, currently the second-longest streak in the league behind Vanderbilt at 22.
  • Trey Killian is one of three pitchers in the SEC with multiple complete games after the sophomore tossed back-to-back complete games against Florida and Alabama.
  • Trey Killian and Jalen Beeks are one of two pitching tandems in the league to throw complete games, as Auburn's Keegan Thompson and Dillon Ortman are the only other teammates in the SEC to accomplish the feat.
  • Coach Van Horn takes on his former club after coaching at Nebraska from 1998-2002. He led the Cornhuskers to back-to-back College World Series appearances before making the move to the Razorbacks. He is 2-4 all-time against Nebraska since taking over at Arkansas.
  • The Razorbacks have been hit by 54 pitches so far this season, surpassing last year's total of 36 HBP in 61 games and leading the SEC. This year, Arkansas has been hit by a pitch in 13 straight games and in 24 of 27 games, including multiple hit by pitches in 15 games. Arkansas was hit a season-high six times in the final game vs. Appalachian State and wore nine hit by pitches during the two-game series vs. Grambling State. The single-season school record for hit by pitches is 107 in 64 games in 2007, an average of 1.67 HBP per game.
