Baseball brawl among Arkansas teams under review

CONWAY, Ark. (AP) - Two conferences are looking into a brawl that erupted in the 10th inning of a game between Central Arkansas and Arkansas-Little Rock.

Benches cleared Wednesday as UALR coach Scott Norwood and UCA coach Allen Gum argued and Gum bumped Norwood backward. A UCA player then knocked Norwood to the ground.

The fight was caught on video. Play stopped for 20 minutes. Umpires ejected Norwood and UALR pitcher Chad Bradford. Three UALR pitchers hit UCA four batters during the game, though Bradford wasn't among them.

Norwood said Thursday that the incident was "an embarrassment to the university." He said commissioners of the Sun Belt Conference, of which UALR is a member, and the Southland Conference, in which UCA plays, are reviewing the fight.

UCA won 5-4 in 11 innings.
