Charges being filed in water rescue

HENDERSON, KY (WFIE) -

Two adults and a child are rescued after several vehicles drove into floodwaters in Henderson.

It happened around 9:30 Friday night in the area of Old Henderson Evansville Road.

The Henderson County Sheriff's Office, along with members of the Henderson City/County Rescue Squad and Henderson Fire Department, responded to the report of vehicles stranded in the water.

The Sheriff's Office says two of the vehicles were able to drive out and no one inside was hurt.

Witness told authorities that another vehicle occupied by two adults and a child was still in the water.

Rescue personnel put on wetsuits and waded through 4 to 5 feet of water to get to the people who were stranded.

Officials say they were wet and cold, but not hurt.

The Sheriff's Office says charges are being filed against the two adults for endangering the welfare of a minor.

No names are being released at this time due to the ongoing investigation.
