YAZOO COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A prayer vigil is planned Monday night for a Yazoo County girl last seen in flood waters, Sunday night.

Officials from Yazoo County Emergency Management say the search for a missing 9-year-old is now a recovery effort.

Joey Ward, the Emergency Management Director, spoke in an afternoon press conference about their team's progress.

Ward said the girl, know to us by her nickname, Auna, went into a culvert behind her 7th Street home around 7:30 Sunday night.

She was playing in the water and the current pulled her under. The young girl apparently can not swim.

Search teams, including divers are now focusing on a canal and creeks that that culvert feeds into.

Throughout Monday morning, officials have searched the culvert, and the surrounding area.

We're told one canal runs 4 or 5 miles before draining into the Yazoo River.

Ward says there is a screen at a pump station there that should prevent the child from entering the Yazoo River.

Officials say the name of the child will not be released officially until she is found.
