WYNNE, AR (KAIT) – A Cross Co. man is behind bars after police say he confessed to a robbery at a convenience store over the weekend.

Wynne Police Detective Mike Smith says the robbery at the Citgo in Wynne happened just after midnight Saturday morning. Surveillance video from the police department shows a man at the counter making a purchase and when the cashier opens the drawer, the man appears to reach over and grab an unknown amount of cash.

Smith says around noon on Saturday 25-year-old Robert Lee Jones of Wynne confessed to the robbery. According to the Cross County Sheriff's Office, he was booked into the county jail on charges of parole/probation violation and robbery.

Jones is expected to have a preliminary hearing Monday morning.
