TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Two Toledo natives are working to bring different and fresh business to the Glass City.

Veritas Cork and Craft is moving into the lobby level of the Commodore Perry Apartment building on Jefferson St.

There is paper over the windows now, but in a few weeks, Veritas Cork and Craft will be open.

The concept is successful in big cities: fine wine and craft beer.  Owners Nick and Franz believe Toledo is ready for something like this.

There's still a lot of work to be done, but the businesses owners have high hopes.

"One of the most exciting features of Veritas Cork and Craft is the education that we're going to bring to Toledo," said Nick.

Veritas will be a half retail, half wine lounge, complete with a full service bar of fine wine, craft beer and cocktails, and will even host a light food menu and mixology classes.

"This is something we're trying to raise the bar on," said Nick.  "(We're) trying to get people back to understanding what really good wine is, what true cocktails are."

For Nick and Franz, the decision to build in downtown was easy.

"There's a great generation of positive thinking individuals right now," said Franz.  "It's important that we support our part."

"Downtown Toledo is coming around," said Nick.  "There really is a life down here."

Nick and Franz hope to open Veritas in the next few weeks.
