PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) – A Missouri man is in the hospital following a pursuit that began in Arkansas after he reportedly drank anti-freeze.
Dunklin County Sheriff Bob Holder stated Monday his office received a request to check on Richard Allen Dearing just after 7 a.m. The man told his parents he drank anti-freeze but would not tell them where he was, according to Holder.
Dearing was found inside a van near a Paragould lake. When an officer came up to the van Holder said Dearing drove off. Arkansas authorities pursued him through Marmaduke and Rector all the way into Dunklin County.
Dearing hit a spike strip put out by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and later surrendered to authorities.
He was taken to the Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center for medical treatment and later transferred to a Memphis hospital. His condition is not known at this time.
It is unclear what kind of charges Dearing may face.
