New VA clinic to open in Pocahontas

POCAHONTAS, AR (KAIT) – Veterans living in Randolph County will no longer have to travel to Poplar Bluff or Paragould to get medical treatment.

Officials with John J. Pershing VA Medical Center announced Wednesday the completion of its new Outreach Clinic in Pocahontas.

The 3,000 square foot clinic, located at 300 Camp Road, will open for business on Tuesday, April 29, and will include primary care and telehealth services on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

"As part of our mission to offer quality health care to our nation's veterans, we are proud to bring that care closer to home," said Marj Hedstrom, director of John J. Pershing VA Medical Center. "I hope veterans who have not previously enrolled for VA services will stop by to learn about their health care benefits."

Dr. George Patton, who currently supports the medical center's outpatient clinic in Paragould, will serve as Pocahontas physician.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 19. Hedstrom said staff will be on hand to enroll veterans and provide tours of the new clinic. She said everyone in Pocahontas and the surrounding area are invited to attend.
