A Murfreesboro police officer is accused of revealing the name of at least one potential confidential informant to a person with a criminal history that includes selling and distributing drugs.

Bryant Scott Smith, 42, is charged with official misconduct and misuse of official information, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

Investigators say the incident occurred during ongoing vice and narcotic operations in the summer of 2013.

Smith, who has worked for the department for 10 years, allegedly admitted to his involvement later, the TBI said.

He was then placed on administrative leave with pay.

Smith was jailed Wednesday and later released on a $5,000 bond.
