4A State Track & Field meet moved to Heber Springs

NORTH LITTLE ROCK (AHSAA.org) - Due to structural damage at Nashville's track and field complex last week the Class 4A state track and field meet has been moved to Heber Springs on Tuesday, May 6th.

The Arkansas Activities Association's Board of Directors awarded Nashville the host site at its January Board meeting. On Tuesday, April 8th strong winds brought a 90-foot light pole to the ground. At the time winds in the area were up to 20 mph, with gust up to 40 mph.

Although a structural engineer is scheduled to check on the remaining three poles that light Scrapper Stadium, it was decided, for safety reasons, that the 4A state meet be moved to a new location. Heber Springs notified the AAA office on Monday that it would host the 2014 event.
