Jonesboro police chief presents new alcohol ordinance

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Members of the Jonesboro Public Safety Committee were presented with a proposal concerning the city's alcohol ordinance.

On Tuesday, Jonesboro Police Chief Michael Yates proposed that instead of administrators handling the case, violators of the alcohol ordinance would be taken to district court.

Businesses that serve alcohol would be placed in different categories based on operation hours and the capacity. In case of a violation, the category of the business would determine if their alcohol license would be suspended or revoked.

All aldermen received a copy of the proposal draft. Mayor Harold Perrin said special meeting would probably be held to discuss the issue at length.
