"Golf for Agape" raises thousands of dollars

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -Thousands of dollars were raised during the 2nd annual "Golf for Agape" tournament Saturday.

The tournament held at Sage Meadows raised $5600. All proceeds will benefit the Agape House, a residential recovery home for women battling addiction. Executive Director Sunny Curtis said they've been helping women conquer their addictions for years.

"We're nine years old.  We've got homes in Paragould and Corning, Arkansas.  We pretty much stay full all the time.  We're an eight month life recovery program: four months residential followed by four months of after care," said Curtis.

She said helping women conquer their addictions has a positive domino effect.

"Each lady that gets her life back, it not only impacts her life, it impacts her children's lives, her spouse's life, her parents' lives, her brothers and sisters, her potential employers.  There are so many lives touched by just one life and getting back on track and getting where they need to be."

In addition to a great round of golf, prizes including a flat screen TV, a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and two round-trip airline tickets were given away.
